Hi! I'm Claire, a 9-to-5 working lady residing in an urban setting in the middle of North Carolina. I would love nothing more than to spend my days on my hobbies but, sadly, there's never enough time in the day (especially when you're working full-time).
I started this blog to keep track of the hobbies that I do have, which I realized center around creating things (gardens, sewing). It's nice to be able to go back and look at what I have accomplished.
As far as gardening, I live in the piedmont region of North Carolina, USA. What this means is that the average dates for frost are:
Last spring frost: 3rd week of March
First fall frost: 2nd week of October
On average, we have 176 frost-free days (wow, that's almost half the year!) to grow gardens and see what else we can grow.
I do live in an urban neighborhood, so I won't be doing anything too crazy (especially since my backyard is mostly shaded due to a high number of trees back there). My little garden plot is actually on the side of my house, which also happens to be facing south (the best location for any garden).
